Dr Jean Millar has been a GP for over 30 years. She graduated in Medicine from the University of Glasgow in 1970. After leaving medical school she worked in Greenbank and Freedom Fields Hospitals in Plymouth as a Junior House Officer in Medicine and Surgery and then as a Senior House Officer in Anaesthetics. In the autumn of 1972 she started work as a GP in Grimsby before joining a partnership in Finchampstead, Berkshire in 1974. She became Senior Partner in 1996.

Dr Millar was interested in holistic medicine from a young age. She regularly saw the benefits of holistic treatment whilst growing up in Jamaica . Working as a GP has confirmed her belief that traditional medicine does not always have all the answers and that alternative medicine has much to offer in health benefits. When appropriate and acceptable to the patient, she recommends combining traditional medicine with complimentary therapies.

Dr Millar herself has trained extensively in both homeopathy and hypnotherapy and promotes many forms of holistic therapy at her clinic.

Dr Millar and her husband moved to the Costa Blanca in 1999. They had holidayed in the area for over 10 years and fell in love with the culture and climate. Dr Millar founded Clinica Perlamar in 2003 to offer both residents and holiday makers the opportunity to obtain the best traditional or holistic treatments to meet their individual medical needs.
